"Giving Voice to Words Written by Black People Around the World"
The International GREAT Black Read Aloud Day (TM) is in place to promote literacy among black people around the world, to encourage black people to read more literature written by black people, and to ignite a passion for reading aloud.
Literacy makes a daily difference in the lives of people around the world. We aim to make it a positive impact in the lives of men, women, and children across the African diaspora.
Well, we started this the week of January 25, 2021, and we're still at it. Between a global pandemic and many other anticipated happenings, we're still here! L.D. shared the idea with her colleague, Donna M. Gray-Banks, founder of the F.R.E.S.H. Book Festival (who added the "International" part), and here we are.
We're working on the details! In the meantime, please pick a day or days to READ ALOUD!
